Contemporary Istanbul Foundation, with the partnership of Tosyalı Holding and in collaboration with Hatay Mustafa Kemal University, organized an eight-week educational program for young artists who had to pause their education and artistic production after the February 2023 earthquake in Hatay.
Launched in response to the earthquake that struck on February 6, 2023, this professional development program aimed to guide art students striving to rebuild their hopes for the future. It introduced them to various career paths within the art world, helping them establish a strong professional foundation. The program emphasized that art is not limited to creative production alone but spans a wide range of professional fields such as curating, art management, museology, and art writing.
Key topics covered during the eight-week program included digital identity building, media literacy, personal development, goal setting, and effective communication. The program featured 18 instructors and consisted of 24 online classes, totaling 40 hours of instruction.
There is a strong belief in the healing and transformative power of art in regions affected by disaster. Through this project, students not only developed their professional skills but also learned the importance of solidarity, self-confidence, and using art as a means of healing.
