The Contemporary Istanbul Foundation starts 2019 with Ceren Oykut & Ekin Saçlıoğlu’s exhibition “Elsewhere”

Contemporary Istanbul Art, Culture and Education Foundation (CIACEF) hosts Ceren Oykut & Ekin Saçlıoğlu exhibition Elsewhere, which will be held at HallArts between January 24th and February 9th.

The title “Elsewhere” has emerged from the commonalities that surfaced during a conversation between the two artists, about themselves and their production. Ceren Oykut, who lives and works in Berlin since 2017, and Ekin Saçlıoğlu who lives in Istanbul, realized the common features within their production that examine issues around leaving and staying, sheltering, being visible and invisible, belonging and being, being isolated, being camouflaged, being alienated, and formed a selection for this exhibition.

Ceren Oykut, who portrays everyday life through detailed urban landscapes and draws from a range of disciplines such as caricature, miniature and cartography, participates in the exhibition with a selection of works that were produced between 2014 and 15, which map the changing habits of everyday life due to isolation and alienation.

Ekin Saçlıoğlu, who produces in a variety of disciplines such as painting, sculpture, drawing and installation with a wide array of materials and subject matter, takes part in this dual exhibition with a series of drawings and sculptures from 2018 that will be exhibited in Istanbul for the first time.
