Contemporary Istanbul and Aralık Association collaborated in 2016 on a primary school project in Kilis designed to deminish the difficulties war and migration impose on children. The project contributes to regional efforts on education. An exhibition, held 12-13 May 2016 at the Sofa Hotel,generated funds for the project.
All the proceeds of sales of works at the exhibition went towards construction of the school building. The foundations of an 18-classroom primary school for Syrian and Kilis children, to be constructed with the assistance of the Ministry of Education on a 5,484 m2 area, have been laid with the goal of completing the building by the start the 2017-18 academic year.
