- Artisan was founded in 1973 by Ertan Mestci. The gallery first greeted the public with an exhibition of the work of Orhan Peker whose help and encouragement played a critical role in the creation of Artisan. From its early years Artisan displayed exhibitions by outstanding Turkish artists such as Aliye Berger, Candeger Furtun, Bedri Rahmi, Cihat Burak,Turan Erol, Avni Arbas, Komet. Artisan maintains its stature in the Turkish art world thanks to both new talents and its loyal artists and patrons.
