Opening Performance

For celebrating its 6th edition opening, Contemporary Istanbul hosts 4 unaccountable contemporary performance artists. On the 23rd of November, Tal Isaac Hadad vs. Renaissance Man (France, Germany, Finland), Voin De Voin (Bulgaria, Germany, France), Erdem Helvacıoğlu (Turkey, Germany) and Özgür Erkök will allow Contemporary Istanbul’s preview guests to have an even more memorable experience on that very unique day.

In Istanbul Congress Center, Erdem Helvacıoğlu, Tal Isaac Hadad and Renaissance Man will present two exclusive sound performances inspired from real sound elements. The opening program in Istanbul Convention and Exhibition Center, brings together Özgür Erkök’s costume solo stage performance ‘Otozit Parazit’ and Bulgarian artist Voin de Voin’s performance “PLAY” which is inspired by language and all the possible connotations.

‘FAIR ART’ - TAL ISAAC HADAD VS RENAISSANCE MAN

Tal Isaac Hadad invite the Finnish duo Renaissance Man, to perform together an electronic and live musical statement during Contemporary Istanbul Opening.

‘FAREWELL ISTANBUL' by ERDEM HELVACIOGLU

Farewell Istanbul is an electroacoustic, soundscape, electronica musical set based on the soundscape of Istanbul. During this performance Helvacioglu will not only process the sounds of the city in realtime but will also perform on a hybrid, futuristic instrument called the “TogaMan Electric GuitarViol”.

‘PLAY’ – VOIN DE VOIN

Voin De Voin’s performance "play" is a rhetoric attempt to physicalize all the possible connotations to an existing word from the dictionary. It derives from linguistics and deal with the idea of how verbal and visual communication tools develop and how are they applied in different situations.

‘OTOZIT-PARAZIT’ – ÖZGÜR ERKÖK

Özgür Erkök’s “Sesperisi” presents Otozit Parazit is based on the relationship between otosite and parasite / host and guest. The paradoxal idea of "i am the parasite of myself" indicates not any essential music style but a multiple and ambiguous attitude on performance.
